Stop Motion (Technique and Soul)
Stop motion is a modality of animation that utilizes real elements, like photographs, dolls and even people. The most common and known is the use of “clay”, employed in several movies and commercials. During the workshop, objects like thin wire, polystyrene and molding clay, which are easily found in hardware stores and bookstores, will be utilized. Photographic and digital cameras will be used to capture images, which will later be edited in a computer. The main objective of the workshop is to widen the horizons of creativity of each student and prepare them according to what the market demands.

Samuel Arruda Guimarães, also known as Muca , has 20 years work experience in the advertising market. He worked on projects like the “Pontinho” mascot from Bomclube (illustration), among other projects as an illustrator. Worked on molding clay dolls to be used in photographs, printed material, billboards and TV. He also works with audio dubbing and sound design and had his work awarded with a prize in Holland. www.muca8.com

Experimental animation
The main object of this course is to carry out a study about animation as an experimentation of language. There will be debates about the work of important names, such as Émile Reynaud, Norman MacLaren and Blu, among others. The optic experiments, antecessors of animation, will be presented in the classroom and reproduced by the students. Some of the first animation movies ever made will be among the movies which will be exhibited. As part of practical exercises, animation projects will be elaborated, discussed about in class and analyzed by the advisor Maurício Martins Nunes.

Illustrator and Animator, with graduation in Design by UFPE. Participated along with “Quadro a Quadro - Estúdio” in several 2D animated advertising campaigns., among which includes: Turma do Fom-Fom, Circuito do Frio, Netuno Pescado and Guf´s. Worked on Animation workshops in projects such as: Russinha – SEBRAETEC, in Gravatá county; Saberes da Terra (MST-PE), in the Paulo Freire training center in Caruaru. 2D animation or Toon Boom
2D is one of the most utilized animation forms in the world and is based on a Canadian platform called Toon Boom. The program is widely present in the major commercial movie and television studios around the world. Classes will take place at AESO, the Brazilian partner of the company who created Toon Boom and supporter of Animage. There students will use computers which run with copies of the program. It is necessary to have some affinity with the audiovisual field and have some notion of drawing, if possible, since painting and drawing techniques will be taught on Toon Boom.

Game introduction
The main objective is to offer students an initial contact with games, showing its evolution and main elements. The main focus will be on game design techniques and all phases of conception. The students will also have contact with simple development tools provided by the workshop. At the end of the course, they will be able to consolidate their newly acquired knowledge on executing simple techniques by utilizing these tools.

Works as Meantine creative director, company incubated at C.E.S.A.R., which creates games and applications for the national and international markets.
Still while at C.E.S.A.R, he created software and mobile games for several companies like, Motorola, Sony, Ericsson, LG, among others. With a Master´s Degree in Design from UFPE, he was the tutor of the games factory, Project Oi futuro, all projects developed for students from the first and second years of elementary school.

Conventional animation
Also called animation by cell or hand drawn animation, it’s the oldest and most popular form of animation. Despite several innovations as far as animated drawings, conventional animation still has its place guaranteed in the market place. In this style of animation, the drawings are hand made and retraced or copied onto a transparent plastic called cell. Students will also learn about the history of the animation films, with over 80 years of existence.
Workshop Advisor: Márcio Gonçalves
With a degree in Plastic Arts from UFPE, Márcio worked on important animation short films in the Estate, like O Jumento Santo and a Cidade que Acabou Antes de Começar and Na corda bamba. Worked on the production of commercial videos, including the São João da Rede Globo jingle and the Microphony Festival 2006. He currently integrates the teaching board of the Animation Studio of the AESO Barros Melo College.

3D animation
This workshop intends to introduce the student to the universe of 3D character animation with explanations of all the creation process of animations in a 3D computer graphics program and also present the elements of conventional animation and the techniques of 3D programs.
During the workshop, the students will learn the concepts of animation by means of keyframe, in betweens and curv edition, learning how to use filmed references to identify the main poses, break them down into intermediate poses and define transitions. The course will also offer a character with an animation set up with Professional quality, so that the student can Begin to practice animation from the get go.
Workshop Advisor: Eduardo Fernandes
Eduardo Fernandes has a degree in Graphic Design from the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (Federal University of Pernambuco - 2005), He is currently a graphic artist at the Playlore Gameworks, creating art and 3D animation for games and professor of film animation at AESO – Faculdades Integradas Barros Melo (Barros Melo Integrated Colleges). He worked as a creation of scenarios, objects and character animation professor at Unibratec – Technical Higher Education Computer Science Course. He has a multi-disciplinary background with experience in computer graphics and Architecture and Urban Planning. He also worked in the graphic design field, developing internet portals, regional and national web sites and flash animation for eight years.
